Department of State >> Delaware Day

Welcome to the Delaware Day Website

Since 1933, the governors of Delaware have proclaimed December 7 as Delaware Day in honor of that day in 1787 when Delaware became the first state to ratify the Federal Constitution, thus making Delaware the first state in the New Nation.

2008 marks the 75th anniversary of Delaware Day and this site has information, photos, calendars of events, and more for you to discover, including details about the 7th Annual Delaware Day Competition.
